At Create, food has always been personal
For me, food has always been personal.
I grew up around it. I learned to grill and smoke from my dad, Dan, and to bake and make weekday dinners from my mom, Kathy. Over time, the kitchen became the place where everything made sense. It was also the place where I got to play with FIRE! It gave me a way to care for people, create something beautiful and make a moment feel special.
That way of thinking still shapes how I lead Create today.
A lot of people hear the word catering and think of food being dropped off and forgotten. That has never been our approach. What makes Create different is that we bring a true chef-led experience into the room. We design custom menus, build kitchens on-site, prepare food on-site, and stay present through the details that shape how an event feels.
When it comes to the food, I have always been most drawn to menus that feel thoughtful, seasonal, and specific to the people at the table. I like building them around the occasion, the season, the mood, and the needs of the guests. Sometimes that means something elegant and restrained. Sometimes it means something rich, celebratory, and a little unexpected.
But it should always feel personal. Never generic. Never like it could be for just anyone.
To me, hospitality means people should feel cared for, not managed. It means your guests feel welcomed, comfortable, and fully looked after. It means the flow feels easy, the details feel handled, and you get to be present in your own event instead of worrying about what is happening in the background.
That kind of care matters just as much as what is on the plate.
The result is food with the freshness and precision of a restaurant experience, paired with the warmth and flexibility a gathering at home, at work, or in a private space requires.
That is what we have been building at Create for twenty years. Food with craft behind it. Hospitality with heart. And events that feel polished, personal, and worth remembering.
If you have a gathering coming up, we would love to help make it feel easy, beautiful, and genuinely well cared for. Reach out. We’re here.
Warmly,
Philip Dorwart
